This is a test for the sort of Terrain my Mars Base will eventually sit on when I get around to completing it. Height map generated in Geo Control and the scene rendered in Vue 5 Infinite with rocks added to the terrain using Vue's Eco-System tool.

Mars Base - Work in Progress
Here's something I started on last summer that I discovered hidden away on my spare drive, I'll eventually sort the rest of this model out and get it placed on the surface of Mars. This was inspired by watching Brian De Palma's Mission to Mars one evening whilst I was looking at Spaceship reference whilst building the Camden Lock for BBC's Hyperdrive.

Andrew Conway
I've added a link to my old mate Andy Conway's new website. Andy was born in Middlesbrough but for some reason that eludes me he has chosen to live in Hartlepool, he always did like to live dangerously. Me and Andy were two of the survivors of the late bus from Ingelby Barwick to Middlesbrough in the late 80's, although the physical trauma soon left us the mental anguish still stays and will no doubt never leave. Also me and Andy survived the 1980's on a diet of Coffee, biscuits, Jelly Beans, Feast Lolly's and various kit parts we ingested. Anyway check out his website in the Links bar.

Airfix HMS Camden Lock

A mate from an alternate dimension sent me his Airfix catalogue from the 70's where it turns out Hyperdrive was a popular Comedy TV show, starring Windsor Davies, Terry Scott, Felicity Kendal and Michael Crawford, it would end with the BBC 'You have been watching' style ending. Anyway Airfix produced a model kit of the HMS Camden Lock the main spaceship from the show. Sadly the dimensional rift between me and my mate has closed for another 10 years otherwise I'd have asked him to get me the kit ! Oh well !!!
Cavorite Sphere

Here are 3 views of the Cavorite Sphere from First Men in the Moon. For those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing this movie here's the plot summary off the IMDB.Based on the HG Wells story. The world is delighted when a space craft containing a crew made up of the world's astronauts lands on the moon, they think for the first time. But the delight turns to shock when the astronauts discover an old British flag and a document declaring that the moon is taken for Queen Victoria proving that the astronauts were not the first men on the moon. On Earth, an investigation team finds the last of the Victorian crew - a now aged Arnold Bedford and he tells them the story of how he and his girlfriend, Katherine Callender, meet up with a inventor, Joseph Cavor, in 1899. Cavor has invented Cavorite, a paste that will allow anything to deflect gravity and he created a sphere that will actually take them to the moon. Taking Arnold and accidently taking Katherine they fly to the moon where, to their total amazement, they discover a bee-like insect population who take a unhealthy interest in their Earthly visitors...
I wanted the image of the Sphere on the moon to have the same feel as the film so for the background I used a few grabs of the moon surface from the DVD and stitched them together in Photoshop and had a mess around with the brightness etc...
