Natural Science

A pic I did using the Wind Turbine model that I made a few weeks back, the turbine was made in Max 7 and the scene has been rendered in Vue. The title of this pic comes from the song by Rush.

Outpost - Concept

Here are two renders of an Outpost design I did for Emmett at Sun Gate Films. This was just a first pass at this and like the corridor is going through a number of revisions. This is a little too Star Wars for me and have a few ideas on how the next version will look. Built in Max 7 and rendered in Vue.

Lighsaber

I made this Lightsaber model in Max 3 ages ago, thought I'd do a render and post it just to fill some space while I'm working on other stuff.

Humanoid - Claw Ship pt2

Here's a re-render of a pic I did back in Feb 06 for my mate Gonz's The Humanoid website. I've just done this update for him so there's a bit of new content for the site, the old render can be seen here http://tinyurl.com/2m9eq7
And there's a post on my other Blog about the film itself http://tinyurl.com/3byvnb

Corridor Concept 2

Here's a 2nd pass at a corridor design, see post lower down page, there's still some alterations that I've discussed, but on the whole they want to go for a clean looking corridor like this as opposed to a gritty/dirty type of texture. I prefer the lights on this one more.

The Crater

A vue 5 scene I set up a while back, got around to rendering it the other day. Rendered in 4 layers so I could blur the foreground foliage to different levels !

Cyberman - Work in Progress

This is something I started a week or so ago purely for a bit of fun. The book Doctor Who: The Inside Story and a few other magazines have had an assortment of unused concepts for the Cybermen from the new series of Doctor Who. This is a mish mash of those and a few ideas of my own. Built in Max 7 and rendered in Vue 5 Infinite.

Corridor Concept

Here's a concept that I've done for Emmett Hagen over at Sun Gate Films. Emmett is in the early stages of producing a low budget SF movie and asked me to submit some ideas. He asked that this corridor design echo the feel of the Star Wars Rebel Blockade Runner, and the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century style sets. I did this corridor yesterday evening as an example. Emmett has suggested some changes to this version, which considering this was just a few hours worth of work I was to expect. I've been given permission to post my concept up here on my Blog.
Cheers to Marty for sending Emmett my way.

Bennet Aldous Link

I've added a link to my mate Bennet Aldous's website Fat Cat Comics. I worked with Bennet a few years back at Atomic Planet Entertainment. His credits include games such as Aero the Acro-Bat and Zapper: One Wicked Cricket. Please check out his site. http://www.comics.homecall.co.uk/

Door Area - Work in Progress

The start of a cartoony CG environment that I'm building, a render of one of the textured sections so far. Built in 3D Studio Max.

New Office

There's a distinct lack of furniture here at the moment, and that filing cabinet near the door is probably a very bad idea. But I'll eventually add more stuff and make it look a little more lived in.
Modelled in 3D Studio Max. Thought I'd edit this and post a pic of the Office wireframe, so here it is.

Luxury Apartment redux

The people who lived in this apartment back in this picture I did http://tinyurl.com/yxvz2x have sold up and moved on, so now it's an empty room again that I was going to refurnish at some point. Here's a render of the empty room, I may lose the wood floor in favour of carpet.

River and Plants

An old pic I dug up from my spare drive that I thought I'd post, made and rendered in Vue 5. With a bit of Photoshop work.

Grand Lunar - Work in Progress

This is a 3D model of the Grand Lunar the Head Selenite from the film First Men in the Moon. I base this on the picture in the book The Art of Ray Harryhausen. In the actual film the Grand Lunar is distorted behind a force field, but he looks pretty much like the other Selenite's except he has a much bigger brain. I suppose that's why he's head :) Rendered in Vue 5.

Alien heads

I made these last week, modelled in Z Brush and rendered in Vue 5. My first real attempts at making some form of character.

Towers

The top of this model started as a Spaceship Engine, seen here http://tinyurl.com/ycz5gx
But with a few changes it's now sitting on the top of these buildings. The Vents that are up their are based on the one's on my town's Bus Station. Made in Max 7.

Wind Turbine

Finished the Wind Turbine but I still have other stuff to make for the scene I'm going to be using this in. Made in Max 7 and rendered in Vue 5 Infinite.

Asteroids

I always loved the asteroid field in The Empire Strikes Back, loved those craggy, crater covered asteroids. Plus who didn't like the old arcade game Asteroids where you could blow the crap out of the things !? :) So I thought I'd make an asteroid piccy. Rendered in Vue 5 Infinite.

Corridor Re-Render

This is a new render of an old model and scene that I posted a while back here http://tinyurl.com/yhz8bt
Decided to re-texture and re-light it.

Mad Tom's Tank Pt2

A few weeks ago I was stalked in Toy's 'r' Us by Gordon Fraser, he threatened to fill my shopping basket full of Star Wars Prequel merchandise unless I finished Mad Tom's Tank by giving it some wheels and tracks. So I spent the other evening finishing this model to get it looking like a tank finally.
You can see my other post about Mad Tom's Tank and Niel Bushnell and Gordon Fraser's Farmageddon project here http://tinyurl.com/yc3css

Gallery Space

I originally made this Gallery about 2 years ago, I did a few renders at the time with some artwork on the walls, but I never got around to adding any internal lighting etc... Anyway I found it the other day and I've taken it back to just the room and eventually I may get around to adding the artwork and any other stuff back. So at the moment I've just done a render with external lighting.

Diver - Older Piccy

I did this Diver pic in 1993, he originally started out as an Astronaut but I decided as I was finishing the pic to re-locate him. I was never very happy with his right leg, it's meant to be bent at the knee and facing towards you, but sometimes I look at it and it looks like he has one short leg. :)
Oh yeah I named him after my mate Andy Conway, though that's where the likeness ends !

Wind Turbine - Work in Progress

This is the top part of a wind turbine model I'm making for an SF scene that I started a week or so back. Modelled in Max 7 and rendered in Vue 5 Infinite.

Blog's Birthday

I started this Blog a year ago today, I'm glad I've managed for the most part to keep posting at least every couple of days or so. Really appreciate all the feedback I've been given, and I hope to keep on posting just as regular in 2007. A recent report says that 200 million people have already stopped writing their blogs, certainly some of the one's I visit haven't been updated in a while. In fact I see loads of Blogs that only ever got one post then the person couldn't be bothered to do a thing with it, there must be millions of unused Blogs out there too. Glad most of the people who post here are still updating, keep on blogging !!!! :)

Tardis Interior - Work in progress

I started this model before Series 1 of the new Doctor Who series began a year or so ago, I really hate the Tardis interior that they use and would love to see something that has more the look of the original shows, so I started to build this, but only ever got this far. Maybe eventually I'll build the centre control console etc... just to get this finished.
