Launch Tube - work in progress

I started this a day or so ago. When complete it's going to be the launch tube for my Orange Spaceship. Again I loved all that late 70's early 80's Sci-Fi like Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century where we seen spaceships launched or flying down launch tunnels etc... Not too sure which way the bay doors will open when I add them or if the bay needs any doors, any suggestions would be appreciated. Still got a lot of work to add to this. There's a small control room in the bottom picture that'll be illuminated. I suppose this section is a small area of a larger ship or space station.
Oh yeah still not 100% sure about the size of this ship to a person, at the moment it's bigger than a fighter, more of a 2 or 3 man ship though I think in the final scene the ship will be around 20 -30% smaller than seen here.
Cheers for looking.

I've taken the You Tube video down that I posted as it was very dark and didn't really do the job it was intended to do. I'll post a new one once more work is done.

Gun Turret Animation

I posted some renders of this Gun Turret last June, I knocked together a quick background for it the other day and did this quick animation. I always loved those Battlestar Galactica type defense guns in the 70's show. This was rendered in 3D Studio Max and the lasers comped in Photoshop. Not too sure what it's shooting so wildly at, maybe that's just my duff animation :)

Orange Spaceship Animation

I posted the original model of this back in November, anyway I've been doing some Animations of it in Vue 5 Infinite for a reel of stuff I'm putting together. It's not going to be a showreel as such but more of a way of putting various animations I've done over the years together to a piece of music, it'll last about 3 and a half minutes when I get it finished. I don't consider myself an animator, I can move objects from A to B sure, but to me that's not really animation in the true sense, but occasionally I like to see the things I've made move even if it is a fairly straight forward affair of them just moving across the screen from left to right etc...

Not too sure who the Orange ships are fighting, but it'll probably end up being the green Starbug Ship I'm still working on. The Lasers were added in Photoshop afterwards using a white cylinder that was rendered out on two seperate passes in Vue so that they lined up with the barrels perspective Ok.

If you click on my November Archive you can see my original posts for this Orange Spaceship, and as soon as I have all the clips put together, some of which you'll have already seen posted here, then I'll post it up here.

10,000 Blog Visitors

Overnight my Blog hit 10,000 Visitors since I put the counter up on April 26th 2006. I'd like to thank everyone for the feedback that they give, and for those who just call through who aren't on Blogger and don't leave feedback, then Hi to those as well. I see from the map on the site register that people have visited from the four corners of the globe, and it's fun to see how some people get to this Blog, I've seen quite a few looking for Cavorite Sphere's from First Men in the Moon which Google directs them to my Blog because of the 3D model I've made, also the amount of people who are looking for Attic Bedrooms who find there way here from a Google search again because of my 3D model of an Attic Bedroom.

Anyway I'll be posting some new stuff hopefully today or in the next few days to keep my Blog updated as usual !!

Darkness Aftermath

I've added a link in my Links bar to Darkness Aftermath a film project being run by Allan Etter that I'm going to be helping out on with one or two scenes. Check out the link and give the guys over in Indiana some feedback if you have time.

Darkness Aftermath
is an independent film created to give college students and film lovers the opportunity to work in a creative environment.

Story:

Darkness Aftermath takes place on a distant world where the rain, cursed by God, causes blindness. As society crumbles a creature, known as the Garum, haunts the forest and has begun killing again. The people of the village, lead by their newly elected Caretaker, Gwen, must find a way to stop the creature. However, a new threat looms over the people as the demonic Drifters aid the Garum with their own power.

Balls and Cylinders

Now the title of this isn't meant as an insult, it's just the picture is just made of balls and cylinders ! :) Rendered in Vue 5 sometime when I was very bored, I was probably waiting for Countdown to come on.

Door area - Work in progress 2

Just a tiny update from what I posted on January 15th of this, I've started on the door and being planning out what the rest of the scene might be. The floor here is only temporary for this render.

Tripods Animation

My first post on this blog back in Jan of 2006 was of this scene. I made the tripod in Vue 2 and Max 3 ages ago, and they weren't rigged for any sort of walking animation. I did this animation I think in Vue 4 and added the lasers in Photoshop to match up with the red glow that is cast onto the barn when the guns fire. These models were pretty much made of just Vue 2 primitives such as cylinders and spheres with the feet being the only bit made in Max 3. Anyway it's a pity they're not really walking but I thought I'd post this old clip anyway !

Bug Eyed Monster

Half an hour messing around with 3D Sculpting package Mudbox, surprised just how cool it is to use. This was all sculpted from a Cube except for the eyes which were added as spheres in Mudbox and replaced with another model in Vue Infinite which I used to render this pic.

Podules

Whatever a Podule is, then here's a whole bunch of them. I made the object in Max and made this pic probably around December 06. Rendered in Vue 5.

I'm on with other things at the moment so I've posted another short Anim that I did in Vue. Hopefully have some other stuff worth posting soon.
