Spaceship engines 2

Here's another engine mesh that's been hanging around on my spare drive waiting to find a spaceship to give it a good home. I was just messing with engine configurations when I did these test renders.

Starcrash - The Space Claw of Tinebria

From the 1979 Italian Sci-Fi film Starcrash !

Two days before shooting was to begin in September 1977, no props had been made. Director/writer Luigi Cozzi hired 96 technicians to build props and models for his film; all the props were built in two days! Miniature ships were built by a few Italian youths led by 20-year-old Paol Zeccara, from designs by illustrator Niso Ramponi. Most models were spray painted silver and illuminated with colored lights because of the shockingly short time schedule.

The miniatures used Lego/Duplo blocks and Model kit sprue, I tried to stick as close as I could to the feel of the original model.

The model was modelled in Max and rendered here in Vue Infinite. And the stars in the film really did look that cheesy, they used christmas fairy lights !

Spaceship engines

I started making these engines some time ago for a yet to be decided spacecraft. These like some of my other CG Spacecraft utilise a collection of CG parts that I made in advance to be like kit parts which I have pre made and can place and resize where ever they seem to work well.

Nam Scene 2

This was made for the same game pitch at Atomic Planet Entertainment as the other Nam pic that I posted. Stuart Whitlock modelled the characters for this who appear to be wearing some rather nice slacks !!

Rogue Trooper - Drop Pod

I noticed that there's a game out now of 2000AD's Rogue Trooper, I decided to dig this out that I made in Max 3 ages ago. It's a drop pod that the troops are carried down to the planets surface in, kind of a very Robert A Heinlein Starship Troopers type idea. I'm sure this model has around 4 times the amount of polygons that it actually needed, but back when I made this I didn't know the shortcuts I know now about modelling in a 3D package.

Low Poly Corridor 3

These are grabs from an animation I did of a low poly corridor some time back, all the textures were 128x128 pixels in size and the animated smoke jets were done in Particle Illusion and brought into the scene on 2 planes using the Alpah Channel generated in Particle Illusion. This is another scene I think that may be lost for good as I'm not sure if I ever backed up a version to bring home.

Gun Turret

I made this gun turret late last summer, I found it lurking amongst my Max files today whilst looking for some other models I'd made that I was digging out for the job I'm doing at the moment. This isn't the final texture on this but I thought I'd post it anyway, the gun itself is designed to be a defensive position on a Spaceship, kind of like those on the Battlestar Galactica.

Fantasy Location pt 2

This is a daytime version of the image I posted on the 14th of Jan, the shadows getting cast under the walkways were always a little too harsh on this pic, unless it was meant to be a summer storm so the sun was still out. It was all low poly work. I don't think I have this model anymore as it was on my machine for the games company I used to work for a few years back, I may have backed it up on a disc, I'll have to have a hunt for it as I'd like to eventually make improvements to this environment and lighting.

Tardis - Work in progress

I made this a while back. I really wanted to find some really good stills of the Tardis for the textures but it's often harder than you think to find good pics that can be used, the Tardis has changed colour from series to series, sometimes a brighter blue or a more weathered faded blue, and the new Tardis is different again in small ways. I'll eventually get this textured up though.
