Corridor Concept

Here's a concept that I've done for Emmett Hagen over at Sun Gate Films. Emmett is in the early stages of producing a low budget SF movie and asked me to submit some ideas. He asked that this corridor design echo the feel of the Star Wars Rebel Blockade Runner, and the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century style sets. I did this corridor yesterday evening as an example. Emmett has suggested some changes to this version, which considering this was just a few hours worth of work I was to expect. I've been given permission to post my concept up here on my Blog.
Cheers to Marty for sending Emmett my way.

wow thats seriously awesome. your internal lighting is getting really good. vue seems to have a really nice renderer.
couple of questions:
1.) render time on this image.
2.) is there any other lighting other than the skylights and those corner lights.
3.) in vue if you make something 100% slef illuminated, does it automatically illuminate objects around it?

The render time was around 12 hours as a 1600x1200 in Maxwell. The lights in the scene are actually getting generated from the self illuminated materials applied to the model.
Vue 6 does have scene lights similar to Maxwell so I hear

Another great sci-fi corridor! I bet at some point in the film the lights will go off and someone will have to run through it! Neat!

Awesome! You really got that light bouncing around convincingly. Great work.

so cool!

I haven't done any 3d since povray, 10 years ago but this makes me want to pick it up again - would you suggest an easy-entry program to get started with? I'm mostly interested in architectural spaces like this, and of course rockets...

I mostly like the detailed but soft surfaces and the warm lighting. Often corridors like this tend to be somehow cold.

It also has a bit of a Blade Runner look to it...I'm thinking of the hall in Decker's apartment.

Looks great!

I've just noticed that Emmett was put in touch with me and my Blog by a mate called Marty. Both characters from Back to the Future :) How weird is that !!?? I wonder if either of them drive a Delorean ? :)
