Hyperdrive - HMS Purley Way & HMS Gower
For Series 2 of BBC 2's SF/Comedy show Hyperdrive I was asked by Niel at Qurios Entertainment to come up with some variations on the 'HMS Camden Lock'. Out of the ones I did these 2 were chosen, they ended up in Episode 6 -Convoy as the 'HMS Purley Way', pictured above, and the 'HMS Gower', below. The 'HMS Purley Way' has the most radical engine design of the 2 craft, this was modified a bit more once the meshes had been handed over to the guys at Qurios.
I made this ship look more like a cargo ship, the towers were inspired by a section of the 'Sulaco' from Aliens. Again this ship went through further alterations at Qurios
Some of the detail was made to be mix and match such as these domes.
Also some football pitches were made for fun, these ended up on the back of the 'HMS Purley Way', though you'd be hard pushed to spot them. For this render it is seen on the back of the 'HMS Camden Lock' maybe if they have home matches it just attaches onto any British Ship.

Wow, these are amazing sir! I can't believe how much detail there is in these things.. you make it look so easy!
Love it..
I agree with Richard. Both are fantastic.
Ahhh Andrew, you always bring us the very best stuff. Nice work man, I love the detail.
:) hey, one super-detailed , cool looking spacecraft again. always intersting shapes and composition . nice work as usual.
Andrew these are tremendous! and I bet if you walked inside they'd have fabulous corridors too! Great stuff
spectacular Andrew!!!!
I like the red piping, it's all in the detail.
Like the footy pitches, but I've only seen about 6 people on the ship. Do you get 3 a side games?
wild!
Wow ... this is amazing! Ugh, everytime Ive worked on Maya and I think I have something decent I come here and throw that idea out the window. Holly Cow this is just so darn beautiful.
AWESOME!! Love the detail in the design!
Yeah, great job, Andrew! Great attention to detail.
