Alien Head Sculpture - Update

Here's a real world sculpture I've started recently in Plasticine, it's full size an will eventually be made into a latex mask for a short film I'm in the very, very early stages of planning. The sculpture so far has had hardly any work done but I'll post more pics as this progresses. It's real nice to get away from CG for a bit and get my hands dirty again with some proper modeling.

Added a bit of an update on this, done a little more with the top of the head and around it's eyes.

Cheers Andy, this is at a really basic stage still, got an idea for what the nose are and the mouth will be like. Been waiting on a box of plasticine for this though,it finally got delivered the other day.

Nice. Will there be any articulation with mechanics for the final product or does it go on an actor's head?

Cheers for the feedback all.

Allen, this is going to be an overhead mask, I'm toying with the idea of doing the eye blink, like a semi translucent membrane in CG on this.

Richtoon, the eyes were from a plastic sphere that splits in two.

Cool idea with the membrane.

Hey Andrew. No I didn't stop blogging. I've been busy working on a sci-fi animation and you know how that goes...can't show any work. Just too busy. That character is top notch so far even though its not finished. Awesome work as usual. Everything is superb. Where do you get it from?

You have keen eyes Nay, the answer is yes !! Infamous makes it sound like it should have it's own entry on Wikipedia !! :)

Looking great Andy, nice to see you doing some real world modelling. I personally like to see a real object. I managed to track down a copy of Stan Winstons book from Amazon which was half price, it's a great read, and shows much of the process of what you are doing here. I would like to have a go at making some head masks too.

Man, that's freaky. Great texturing on the skin and those eyes are still bugging me out.

I'll have to do something with a physical medium again, I used to enjoy it.
